Branding guidelines page size


Are you using an 8 1/2 X 11 format... Think about Ur brand - does that format describe Ur brand? Hopefully not...

Ur brand should have a unique personality and Ur guidelines need to reflect that...  8 1/2 X 11 is "standard" - not very unique...

Please communicate with Ur chosen print vendor about binding options...

The final look and feel of Ur guidelines should reflect Ur brands overall personality...

Hello Folks,
I just wanted to clarify our assignments.

T-shirt Design - If you are choosing to create a t-shirt design, it is Due May 17th. It must be printed onto iron-on transfer paper, then ironed onto an actual shirt that you will wear during the presentation. If I do not get an e-mail from you with your t-shirt design attached - you cannot present on Thursday.

Headline layout - If you choose to work on this INSTEAD of the t-shirt design - your layout is due may 24th. You will need a printed version to hand out as well as an electronic version to display on the display screen This coming Thursday, I need to see your direction for this project.

Branding guidelines - Also, this coming Thursday, I will need to see one of two things: two pages of your branding guidelines (fonts, colors, logo, etc) - Or I need to see the final layout which you will use to build the guidelines (advertising campaign, package, website layout, etc)...

Pages needed for guidelines assignment:

Cover page - usually created after other pages have been established.

Intro page - 2 or three paragraphs describing the personality of this brand you are creating. 

Logo page - What will your sub-brand look like - what colors and/or fonts are being used in the logo? Define colors in Pantone, RGB, CMYK, Hex color number. The logo must also have a grayscale version as well (if you needed to print in black ink only). Provide a couple of do's and don'ts for your logo.

Colors page - What colors will you use for backgrounds, highlights, etc. Define colors in Pantone, RGB, CMYK, Hex color number.

Fonts page - Define each font you will use for headings, sub-heads, body content, etc. Show an example of usage for these fonts.

Images page - If you will be using images in your layout, do your best to describe what types of images are appropriate (landscapes, portraits of famous people, etc.)

Layout page - Are you branding an ad campaign, a new product, a website look and feel? All other pages contain "directions" so that you can create this final design being showcased.

Some designers will start with this page first, and then break it apart and start describing the colors, fonts, etc. on other pages.
